Milton, FL, May 15, 2005-
Jim Thorpe,
aka "Thorpey", made a fairly short birdie putt Monday morning to
defeat
Morris Hatalsky on the third playoff hole at the
Blue Angels Classic. The win gave Thorpe his 2nd straight
title on the Champions Tour after his successful run at the
FEDEX-Kinko's Classic of Austin two weeks ago.
Play was suspended Sunday evening due to
darkness, thus the Monday finish. Hatalsky, who is known as one
of the better putters on the Tour saw his flat stick abandon him
more than once during regular play and on the playoff holes when
he could have made a putt for the win.
The Champions Tour's next stop is at the
Bruno's
Memorial Classic in Hoover, AL.
