Austin, TX Aug. 17, 2006 The First Tee of Greater Austin and Barton Creek C.C. were totally surprised late Thursday afternoon when they received notice that the U.S. Pro Golf Tour had pulled out of its obligation to host an event next week at Barton Creek Foothills and Lakeside Golf Courses.
The First Tee of Greater Austin was to be the beneficiary of the event by recruiting the 240 volunteers necessary to run the event. To the credit of The First Tee's board, families and the Austin Community they reached their goal. Unfortunately the $10,000 donation promised by U.S. Pro Golf Tour for providing the volunteers is not going to be delivered because of the cancellation.
As a means to help The First Tee raise money for its Scholarship Fund, Barton Creek C.C. has donated the Fazio Canyons Golf Course on Sunday, Aug. 27. During this time, greens fee, cart fee per person will be $60 with all proceeds going to The First Tee of Greater Austin.
We thought we had done our homework on the U.S. Pro Golf Tour, as they partnered with another First Tee last month and the event was played without a hitch.

If you would like to play, please call Barton Creek directly at 329-GOLF (they will start booking the times tomorrow), identify yourself as being with The First Tee and book your tee time (our block of times are from 9am-1pm). Please note you will need to pay with cash or check (payable to TFTGA), sorry no credit cards.
There is no actual event this day, just a really cool opportunity to spend time with your friends or family.
