Foresight Golf Purchases Houston’s
Premiere 54-hole Golf Facility |
March,
2005, San Antonio: Foresight Golf, owners of The Bandit
Golf Club, The Buckhorn Golf Course and The Republic Golf Club
located in and around San Antonio, TX have expanded operations
into the Houston market area. The Boerne-based company known for
their ‘Exceptional Golf, Remarkable Value’ philosophy to daily-fee
courses is doubling in size with the purchase of
Cypresswood
Golf Club's 54-hole facility.
Foresight’s three
San Antonio ‘Hill Country’ courses are a testament to the
company’s vision and approach to course ownership, management and
product. The two courses Foresight built from the ground up, The
Buckhorn Golf Course in Comfort and The Republic Golf Club in San
Antonio reflect the company’s talents in building beautifully
interesting and fun golf courses. Their understanding of what it
takes to give player’s an exceptional golf experience and make
people want to play the courses frequently is integral to their
success in the San Antonio market.
The third course,
The Bandit Golf Club, was acquired by Foresight in 2001, and their
applied theory of course management and customer service has
positioned this course as one of the prominent public golf courses
in the greater San Antonio area. The Bandit Golf Club has again
been listed in the top 10 of Golfweek’s Best Public Access
Courses in Texas.
Cypresswood Golf
Club is considered one of the most prominent daily fee complexes
in the Southern United States. The Cypress and Creek Courses were
selected Best New Public Golf Courses by Golf Digest in 1988 and
1989, respectively. The Tradition Golf Course, designed by golf
course architect, Keith Foster, opened in 1997. The Tradition was
rated the #1 public golf course in the Houston area by the Houston
Chronicle from 1998-2002. Cypresswood Golf Club continues to host
many prominent tournament events such 1st stage PGA Tour
Qualifying School, Futures Tour, Shell Houston Open Qualifiers,
and Southern Texas PGA Events. The Facility has received the Golf
Digest 4-Star Rating as one of the Best Places to Play.
Cypresswood Golf Club is also the home of The Kevin Kirk School of
Golf and revered golf instructor Kevin Kirk. Kevin is one the
most respected instructors in the Houston area and has worked with
several PGA Tour players and touring professionals. He was
awarded Southern Texas PGA Harvey Penick Teacher of the year award
from 1997-2000.
Foresight
believes the acquisition of Cypresswood Golf Club is an incredible
opportunity and has significant plans for all three golf courses.
The Cypress and Creek Courses will both receive construction of an
additional set of tees that will make the courses more playable
and enjoyable for all levels of players. Additional on-course
restrooms will be constructed. Overall golf course conditioning
will be improved.
The Tradition
Golf Course, which is presently in beautiful condition with
overseeded ryegrass fairways, will receive a course renovation
this summer that will include a change of turfgrass for all turf
areas. Tees, fairways and rough will be replanted with TifSport
Hybrid Bermudagrass and putting greens will be replanted with
Champion Ultradwarf Bermudagrass. This conversion will make the
year round playing surfaces comparable with the finest golf
facilities in the country.
Plans for indoor
climate controlled conference and meeting space are being
developed. Clubhouses will be renovated and services expanded to
better accommodate the changing needs of the recreational and
business customer.
Foresight Golf
has named Douglas J. Borow, General Manager at Cypresswood. The
announcement was made by Foresight Golf’s Chief Operating Officer,
Ed Miller. “Doug’s broad-based business perspective and proven
record of improving and developing operations in the resort and
daily fee golf industry gives Cypresswood Golf Club the leadership
and focus it needs to reposition this facility in today’s
competitive golf market place. Cypresswood will instill
Foresight’s philosophy that every player should have an
exceptional golf experience and receive a remarkable value in
exchange for their recreational investment.” Miller said.
