San Antonio (New
Braungfels)
local PGA Pro
David Ogrin is
readying himself
to enter the
Champions Tour
when he turns 50, December
31, 2007.
As part of his
transition he
has handed over
the reigns of
CTJGA over to
John Caruso.
Below, in it's
unedited
entirety, is
Ogrin's
announcement:
------------------
Farewell
May 30, 2006
San Antonio,
Texas
It is official.
My time is up as
the Executive
Director of the
CTJGA. This is
my farewell
email to all the
clients of the
CTJGA, the
parents and
juniors whom I
have gotten to
know over the
last year. It
has been a lot
of fun and if I
wasn't so good
at playing the
game, and the
Senior Tour
beckoned with
all that prize
money, I could
have been
content running
junior golf.
As it is I am
fully turning
the reigns over
to John Caruso.
John and his
brother Joe, a
great teacher,
own the Joe
Caruso Golf
Academy located
at 16900 Blanco
Road in San
Antonio, one
mile inside Loop
1604. The JCGA
is a great place
for the youth of
our area to go
and practice
golf. Along with
First Tee, Alamo
Golf Center,
Garden Ridge
Golf Center, the
golf courses of
San Antonio, and
all the great
teachers in our
area, I truly
believe junior
golf is heading
into a golden
age. John now
becomes the
center piece for
junior golf
information.
Email him any
time at
execdirctjga@satx.rr.com.
John has great
plans. On August
4 at the
Buckhorn he is
hosting the
first general
fund raising
event for the
CTJGA, something
I did not get to
in my term. It
is important
that this event
captures your
attention and
you support it.
The CTJGA sends
a team to Mexico
each year and on
August 14 off
they go to
compete against
Mexico and
Canada.
The CTJGA is
also creating
what we hope to
be a world class
junior event in
December in New
Braunfels. It
will be called
the North
American Junior
Golf
Championship,
Texas. It will
be played at The
Bandit. The
dates will be
December 18-22.
Look for more
details in the
near future.
John will carry
on with Junior
Team Golf. Team
golf is one of
those things
that work. It is
a great way to
get kids
together and
form the bonds
of friendship
that last a
lifetime. While
the team golf
centers on
instructors,
clubs, and their
junior golfers,
anybody can form
a team. It is a
great way to
stay involved.
The CTJGA also
will host a
number of adult
junior type
events. Please
stay involved
with those
including the
Second Tiger and
Ogie Birthday
Pro Junior in
December. That
is a lot of fun.
Under John the
CTJGA also
supports the U.S.
Kids Junior Golf
Tour. To enter,
all that you go
to
www.uskidsgolf.com.
This is a great
junior golf
series. John
will also
support First
Tee as the CTJGA
and First Tee
are kindred
spirits of
junior golf. For
the answer to
any question,
please call
210-492-7888.
Finally the
CTJGA is
incorporating
the Joe Caruso
Golf Academy
Challenge Tour.
This series are
events for
individuals. I
encourage all of
the junior
golfers, and all
of the parents
to get involved
and get and keep
kids playing.
Playing the game
is the best way
to get good, and
under John
Caruso the CTJGA
will have many
outlets to play.
Also with the
JCGA as place to
call home the
best in golf
practice is
there for kids
of all ages.
With a little
luck, and more
likely dogged
determination,
the CTJGA can
bring a golf
learning
facility back to
New Braunfels. I
know it is a big
wish for the
Caruso brothers.
I love golf in
all of its
forms. Junior
golf is both
great and
entertaining.
Keep involved.
The last year
has been the
best investment
of my life. So I
say farewell and
ask you tune
into
www.texasjuniorgolfer.com
as I will from
time to time
blog there. Also
dig in and
support the
CTJGA. It is
worth it.
Thank you for
the memories!
