January
26,
2006 - San Antonio, TX:
The
AT&T Championship presented by
Alcatel has officially released its new
tournament logo. The logo features the
new AT&T brand along with the presenting
sponsor Alcatel brand, which was present
in the former logo. The logo will be
showcased in all marketing and
promotional materials leading up to the
event this fall.
The former SBC Championship received
it's new name when SBC acquired AT&T and
changed it's name to AT&T because of
it's internationally recognized moniker.

AT&T officials have also
announced a one year
extension to the original
three year agreement signed
last year. The new term
calls for AT&T to extend its
title agreement with the
PGA Champions Tour through 2008. |
"What an exciting time for the
Championship,” says Colby Callaway, AT&T
Championship Tournament
Director. “Coming off our most
successful event to date, the title
extension and new brand really creates a
buzz that we can all feed on. Our
tournament partners couldn’t be more
excited, and the staff is rearing to
go. It’s also an opportunity to build an
entirely new look. Let’s just say 2006
is going to be a ton of fun.”

Here at Amigo we like the new AT&T
logo because it looks a lot
like a golf ball whereas the old
SBC logo wasn't even close. |
